Lucknow: In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability and urban cleanliness, an RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Centre was inaugurated in Rajajipuram by Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and local corporator Gauri Sawariya. The initiative aims to strengthen awareness about waste management, resource conservation, and environmental protection among citizens.
The newly inaugurated centre has been established as part of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation’s ongoing efforts to create a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally conscious city. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said that the objective of the RRR Centre extends beyond waste disposal and management. She emphasized that the centre would encourage people to adopt sustainable practices by reducing waste generation, reusing useful household items, and promoting recycling.

“The concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle has become extremely important in today’s world due to increasing pollution and excessive consumption of resources. This centre will inspire citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation and responsible waste management,” the Mayor said.
She further noted that the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has been consistently implementing several initiatives and campaigns to make the city cleaner and more sustainable. The RRR Centre, she added, would play a key role in minimizing waste while promoting community participation in environmental awareness programs.
Corporator Gauri Sawariya praised the initiative and stated that the centre would prove highly beneficial for residents of the area. She stressed that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and every citizen must contribute towards safeguarding natural resources and maintaining cleanliness.

Apart from promoting sustainable waste management, the centre will also serve as a hub for various community-oriented social activities. Competitive programs for children and engagement activities for senior citizens are planned to be organized regularly at the facility, making it a vibrant community space.
The centre will be operated with the support of Kiran Foundation, which will act as a collaborating organization in managing its activities. During the inauguration ceremony, Charul Chandra presented mementoes to the Mayor and the local corporator on behalf of the foundation as a mark of respect and appreciation.
Several prominent personalities and local residents attended the event, including former corporator Shivpal Sawariya, Anil Agrawal, BJP leader SP Tiwari, Rajesh Raj, stage coordinator Shyamjeet Singh, Abhishek Gupta, Nikhil Upadhyay, Rajveer Singh, Mandal Vice President Alok, and Manish, among many others.
The event concluded with a collective pledge by citizens and officials to work together towards building a cleaner, greener, and more aware Lucknow through active public participation and sustainable practices.
